There Is No Perfect Technique (So Stop Chasing It)

By Jorge Capestany, RSPA Master Professional, and PTR International Master Professional

If you study the best players in the world, you’ll notice something surprising…

None of them looks exactly the same.

Different grips / Different takeaways / Different finishes.

And yet, they all perform at the highest level. So what’s going on?

The Truth: Technique Lives in a “Range of Acceptability”

Great technique isn’t about one perfect model. Within that range, there is room for individual variation.

Even the Best Players Vary

Look closely at high-level players, and you’ll see:

Slight differences in swing paths / Variations in preparation / Unique rhythms and timing

But they all share one thing:

Their technique stays within an effective, repeatable range

The video below comes from one of the 145 courses we have on Tennis Drills TV.

This video is included in all of our Technique courses and explains the dangers of chasing perfect technique.

Final Thoughts…

Even if there was only ONE perfect technique, it may not be worth chasing for every player.

And the sooner players understand that…

  • The faster they improve

  • The more confident they become

  • The more freedom they feel on the court
