Overview of On-court Topics:

SECTION 1: Feeding Skills

During this 1.5 hour on-court segment, attendees will learn how to feed both dead ball and live ball drills. Attendees will learn to feed with double and triple rhythms as well as how to feed a live ball drill.

They will also learn how to continue to train their feeding skills once they get home and will experience some feeding competitions so they can properly assess how they are developing as a feeder.

SECTION 2: Warm-Up Activities

In this on-court section of the workshop, we will be on the court and take the attendees through 8 Warm-up Activities that they can use with players of all skill levels. The emphasis will be on dynamic warm-up drills that are fun and related to actual tennis skills. We will teach attendees to avoid the three deadly "L's" which are, Lines, Laps, and Lectures.

The 8 warm-up activities will be demonstrated by the instructor with the attendees having the opportunity to go through each activity. Then they will split up and peer-teach the other attendees learning how to modify each activity with a progression and regression so that they can work for players of all skill levels.

SECTION 3: Serve & Return Drills

Serving and Returning are TWO of the five Play Situations but we often practice them together

In this on-court section of the workshop, we will be on the court and take the attendees through 6 Serve & Return drills that they can use with players at all skill levels.

We believe Serve & Return drills should be practice together and that we should limit the use of drills where players are serving into an empty service box.

The instructors will demonstrate each of the drills using the gold standard and then attendees will have the opportunity to peer teach each other the drills.

We will constantly monitor how the attendees are delivering the drills and bring them together to discuss ways that each drill could be modified and made easier or more difficult so the drill works with players of all skill levels.

SECTION 4: Baseline Drills

Baseline Play is another of the five Play Situations and is the most common situation players will be in. Therefore, we will teach the attendees Baseline drills. Net & Transition Play is another of the five Play Situations. In this on-court section of the workshop, we will teach the attendees Net & Transition drills. Instructors will demonstrate each of the drills using the gold standard and then attendees will have the opportunity to peer teach each other the drills.

We will constantly monitor how the attendees are delivering the drills and bring them together to discuss ways that each drill could be modified and made easier or more difficult so the drill works with players of all skill levels.

SECTION 6: Passing shot & Lob Drills

Passing shots & Lobs is another of the five Play Situations. In this on-court section of the workshop, we will teach the attendees 4 Passing shots & Lob drills. SECTION 8: Point Play within a Group Lesson

Sometimes during a group lesson, there will be an opportunity for the players to play out points or even sets.

This is often determined by how many courts are available. In this on-court section of the workshop, we will teach the attendees games they can use where students can actually playing out points in a group lesson.

This means that their students will be serving, returning, and keeping score although it may not be an actual match itself. There is an art to coaching during this segment of a group lesson and we will teach the attendees how to set up point play games, and the concept of 360-degree coaching so they can view the players from various locations of the court.

Attendees will also learn whether to give encouragement or technical-tactical advice during match play and the art of how to deliver that.

SECTION 9: Setting Up Competitions

In this on-court section of the workshop, the attendees will learn games and competitions that they can use either during or outside of a group lesson setting.

SECTION 10: 10 & Under Drills (needed?)

Still need to determine if we should include a segment on 10 and under drills or if that would be in a different Workshop.

I could always give them some content from my website regarding 10 and under teaching.
